Sumedha is an artist, designer and educator; she studied Visual Communication in New Delhi and completed her Masters in Narrative Environments from Central Saint Martins, London. Her work lies at the intersection of art, design, education, research and community.
Through a research based, process driven and participatory approach, she designs narrative and storytelling experiences around people, places and stories. She has been part of conceptualising and designing immersive visitor experiences such as the Virasat- E- Khalsa Museum in Punjab and the Chinmaya Pradeep in Mumbai.
Sumedha has worked in communities across India and South Africa; on social innovation and community healing through art, design, storytelling, nature and education. She has previously worked as project manager at Eagle Valley in South Africa, Sri Aurobindo Society in Pondicherry; and was the recipient of the socially engaged art grant by Khoj International Artists’ Association in 2019.
She has taught design at multiple universities in India including Sushant School of Design, The Design Village and United World Institute of Design, Ahmedabad. Her area of pedagogical practice focuses on designing & developing curriculum and content for practice based multi-sensory learning methodologies. Her research focuses on indigenous knowledge systems and mapping socio cultural ethnographies around myth making and oral traditions, across communities in India.
