"Empower her – Empower the Future: Legal Aid Camp 15 September 2025 — School of Law, GD Goenka University On 15 September 2025 the Pro Bono Club together with the NSS unit of GD Goenka University organised a Legal Aid Camp under the banner “Empower her – Empower the Future.” The camp aimed to provide legal awareness and support to under-represented or vulnerable members of the community, especially women, helping them understand their rights and available legal remedies. The initiative underscored the law school’s commitment to social justice, access to law, and community outreach. During the camp, student volunteers and faculty members offered legal counselling to attendees, explaining basic legal rights, procedures for filing complaints, and pathways for accessing justice. Issues addressed included women’s rights, domestic violence awareness, family law, tenancy disputes and access to social entitlements. Volunteers distributed informational pamphlets and guided visitors through the process of seeking legal aid if required. The camp also featured interactive sessions on gender sensitization, legal literacy, and empowerment — encouraging participants to ask questions, share experiences, and receive practical advice. For many attendees the presence of peer-lawyers (students) made the atmosphere approachable and less intimidating. Feedback from participants was positive. Many expressed that the camp demystified legal procedures, clarified their rights under Indian law, and offered them hope for legal recourse. The event strengthened the role of GD Goenka University’s law students as agents of social change and re-emphasised the importance of community engagement in legal education."
