As part of the Mental Health Week Celebration organized by the Department of Psychology, School of Liberal Arts, GD Goenka University, a Debate Competition was held on 13th October 2025. The event aimed to provide students with a platform to express their views on one of the most relevant and thought-provoking topics of modern times — “Social Media Doing More Harm Than Good to Society”. Participants critically analyzed the dual nature of social media — while some highlighted its role in connecting people, promoting awareness, and providing platforms for learning and creativity, others emphasized the negative implications such as addiction, misinformation, cyberbullying, and declining mental well-being. The balanced arguments reflected students’ awareness of how social media affects psychological health, relationships, and societal values.
