Hands-on Workshop on ‘Basic Molecular Techniques’
On 2 February 2026, the Department of Basic and Applied Sciences, School of Engineering and Sciences, in collaboration with the School of Agricultural Sciences, successfully organized a workshop on ‘Basic Molecular Techniques’. Dr. Archana Dayal, Director, Zenomix BioLab Pvt. Ltd., Dr. Pushpender Kumar Sharma, Amity University and Dr. Sonia Kumari Shishodia, Chandigarh University, were invited as expert speakers for the workshop. Dr. Archana delivered an insightful talk on career opportunities in Biotechnology, Microbiology, and Agricultural sciences.
Dr. Pushpender discussed the basic concepts and applications of molecular techniques, covering DNA extraction and quantification, gel electrophoresis, PCR, DNA ligation, and bacterial transformation. Dr. Sonia Kumari Shishodia delivered an engaging session on “Psychology Secrets Behind Academic Triumph,” motivating students toward academic excellence. The workshop also included discussing the key molecular techniques, including DNA extraction and quantification, gel electrophoresis, PCR, DNA ligation, and bacterial transformation.
The hands-on session significantly enhanced participants practical understanding and academic exposure. The participants were also given information regarding career opportunities in biological sciences. The event was well coordinated by Dr. Raunak Dhanker, Dr. Anil Kumar, and Dr. Arpita Sharma under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) K. Thammi Reddy, Dean, SoES, Prof. (Dr.) Shiv Singh Tomar, Dean, SoAS, and Prof. Naresh Sharma, Head, DBAS.
