NSS Day Celebration 2026

Theme: “Vasudeva Kutumbakam – Together We Serve, Together We Grow”

The NSS Unit of GD Goenka University, Gurugram, celebrated NSS Day 2026 on 23 September 2026 at the B-Block Auditorium with the inspiring theme “Vasudeva Kutumbakam – Together We Serve, Together We Grow.” The celebration focused on youth empowerment, social responsibility, community engagement, environmental awareness and national integration, with special emphasis on the Durga Shakti Scheme and Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. More than 200 students, NSS volunteers, faculty members, dignitaries and community representatives participated enthusiastically.

The programme commenced with the NSS Song and ceremonial lamp lighting, followed by the welcome address by Dr. Dhirendra Singh Parihar, Pro-Vice Chancellor–Administration & Registrar, who highlighted the importance of youth participation in nation-building and community development. A special awareness session on Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan was conducted by Dr. Ashok, Sub-Inspector, Haryana Police, on deputation to HSNCB Haryana, who interacted with students on substance abuse prevention, responsible decision-making and healthy lifestyles.

The celebration also highlighted the objectives of the Durga Shakti Scheme, promoting awareness about women’s safety, responsible behaviour and the collective responsibility of youth in creating a safe and respectful society. An experience-sharing session with progressive farmers and senior citizens provided students with valuable insights into agriculture, rural life, family values, perseverance and intergenerational learning.

To promote holistic well-being, a Yoga and Meditation Session was conducted by Ms. Vidisha from the School of Liberal Arts. The event also featured vibrant cultural performances representing different Indian traditions, including Bengali, Himachali, Punjabi, Haryanvi and Kerala folk traditions, reflecting the spirit of unity in diversity. Students further participated in Rangoli and Elocution Competitions based on themes of Nasha Mukti, women’s safety and social responsibility.

As part of the celebration, a Plantation Drive was organized for newly enrolled NSS volunteers, reinforcing the values of environmental conservation and sustainable development. The event also showcased the NSS Unit’s year-long community initiatives in sanitation, environmental protection, health and hygiene, civic responsibility and outreach programmes in villages and government schools.

NSS Outreach Programme at Dhaula Village

Continuing the NSS Day celebrations, 35 NSS volunteers visited Shaheed Subedar Kumarpal Singh Raghav Government Senior Secondary School, Dhaula Village, Sohna, Gurugram, on 24 September 2026, where they interacted with more than 100 students of Classes X, XI and XII. The outreach programme focused on environmental protection, tree plantation, food and nutrition, cleanliness, health and hygiene, waste management and responsible citizenship.

The outreach activities included a One-Minute Speech Competition, Nature Treasure Hunt, Cleanliness Drive, Health and Hygiene Quiz, Poster Making Competition on “Swachha and Swastha Bharat,” and the “Wall of Kindness” activity. These activities encouraged students to express their ideas, develop confidence, practise teamwork and understand their role in creating a cleaner, healthier and more responsible society.

The two-day celebration successfully translated the philosophy of “Vasudeva Kutumbakam – Together We Serve, Together We Grow” into meaningful action by bringing together university students, school students, faculty members, government representatives, NGOs, senior citizens, farmers and community stakeholders. The programme reinforced the NSS motto “Not Me But You” and strengthened GD Goenka University’s commitment to youth development, community service, environmental sustainability and responsible citizenship.
