"Pro Bono Club x NSS – Janta ki Adalat Debate Competition 24 September 2025 — School of Law, GD Goenka University On 24 September 2025 the Pro Bono Club, in collaboration with the NSS unit of GD Goenka University, organised “Janta ki Adalat,” a campus-wide debate competition held to observe NSS Day. The event brought together students from across Delhi NCR and beyond, offering over 60 participants from around 30 universities a platform for vibrant, reasoned discussion. The central issue debated was the reservation system. Participants addressed multifaceted aspects of the topic, historical context, constitutional jurisprudence, social equity, and policy implications. The format encouraged teams to frame arguments for and against reservation, promoting rigorous research, persuasive speaking, and respectful rebuttal skills. Organisers structured the competition to ensure broad participation. Preliminary rounds were held to shortlist teams, and the final rounds took place on campus. Registered teams competed under time-bound motions, with adjudicators evaluating submissions on clarity, argumentation, evidence, and oratory. A modest registration fee was charged to facilitate logistics and prize funding. The debate competition achieved its aim of fostering legal and social awareness among students. Participants described the experience as intellectually stimulating and socially relevant. Importantly, the event underscored the School of Law’s commitment to civic engagement, critical discourse, and collaborative student-led initiatives."
