The School of Liberal Arts, GD Goenka University, conducted a debate competition on the topic “Do Families in India Unintentionally Contribute More to Mental Health Stigma Than Support?” on 12 October 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, as part of World Mental Health Week 2026.

A total of 21 students participated, speaking For and Against the motion, and prizes were awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions in each category.

The debate provided an opportunity to explore different perspectives on the role of Indian families in mental health, from the care and emotional support they offer to the silence and misunderstanding that can unintentionally contribute to stigma.
