NSS Outreach Programme at Dhaula Village Promotes Health, Hygiene and Responsible Citizenship

Continuing the NSS Day 2026 celebrations, the NSS Unit of GD Goenka University, Gurugram organised an outreach programme at Shaheed Subedar Kumarpal Singh Raghav Government Senior Secondary School, Dhaula Village, Sohna, Gurugram, on 24 September 2026. A total of 35 NSS volunteers participated in the programme and interacted with more than 100 students of Classes X, XI and XII.

The outreach programme was organised to promote awareness about environmental protection, tree plantation, food and nutrition, cleanliness, health and hygiene, waste management and responsible citizenship. Through interactive and creative activities, the NSS volunteers encouraged school students to actively participate in community development and adopt healthy and environmentally responsible practices.

The programme featured a range of engaging activities, including One-Minute Speech Competition, Nature Treasure Hunt, Cleanliness Drive, Health and Hygiene Quiz, Poster Making Competition on “Swachha and Swastha Bharat,” and the “Wall of Kindness” activity. These activities provided students with opportunities to express their ideas, build confidence, develop teamwork and understand their role in creating a cleaner, healthier and more responsible society.

The outreach also covered five major awareness initiatives under the SEWA SANKALP ABHIYAN:

Yoga and Meditation – Promoted physical well-being, mindfulness, mental wellness and stress management among students.
Nasha Mukti Abhiyan – Created awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse and encouraged students to adopt a healthy and drug-free lifestyle.
Health and Anemia Awareness – Focused on nutrition, anemia prevention, healthy dietary practices and overall health.
Women’s Health and Cleanliness Awareness – Addressed personal hygiene, menstrual hygiene, women’s health and cleanliness.
Rangoli Competition – Used creativity and art to communicate messages related to cleanliness, social responsibility, cultural values and community participation.

The programme successfully transformed the spirit of “Vasudeva Kutumbakam – Together We Serve, Together We Grow” into meaningful community action. The interaction between university volunteers and school students strengthened awareness about health, hygiene, environmental sustainability and social responsibility.

The initiative also reinforced the NSS motto “Not Me But You”, highlighting the importance of selfless service and community participation. Through such outreach initiatives, GD Goenka University continues to contribute towards youth development, community engagement, environmental sustainability and responsible citizenship.
