As part of UID NCR’s commitment to industry-driven learning, a masterclass titled “Thinking Beyond the Obvious” was conducted on 23 January 2026 by UX design leader Anurag Sharma. The session encouraged students to move beyond aesthetics and focus on design as a problem-solving discipline rooted in empathy, inclusivity, and human-centred thinking. Through interactive discussions and exercises, students explored how questioning assumptions, understanding diverse user needs, and identifying real-world constraints are essential to effective design. A key highlight was the Curb-Cut Effect, demonstrating how designing for accessibility benefits a wider audience.
The session emphasised universal design as a mindset—one that considers diverse abilities and experiences from the outset rather than treating them as exceptions. Students were encouraged to think critically about everyday products and recognise how inclusive design can create meaningful, impactful solutions.
