The School of Law, GD Goenka University organized an insightful and practice-oriented session on “Fundamentals and Procedure of Trial Advocacy” on 17 March and 31 March 2026. The sessions were conducted by Advocate Simarjeet Singh Satia, who shared his extensive practical experience and expertise in the field of trial advocacy and courtroom procedures.

The primary objective of the sessions was to familiarize law students with the essential principles, techniques, and practical aspects involved in trial advocacy. The sessions provided participants with a comprehensive understanding of courtroom conduct, stages of trial, client interaction, framing of arguments, examination and cross-examination of witnesses, presentation of evidence, and advocacy skills required for effective legal practice.

Advocate Simarjeet Singh Satia emphasized the importance of preparation, legal research, communication skills, and ethical conduct in courtroom proceedings. Through practical examples and interactive discussions, he explained the procedural aspects of both civil and criminal trials, enabling students to bridge the gap between theoretical legal education and real courtroom practice. The sessions also highlighted the role of confidence, articulation, and strategic thinking in developing effective advocacy skills.

Students actively participated in the discussions and engaged in exercises related to courtroom presentation and trial procedures.
