VARTAH 7.0: Virtual National School Counselors’ Summit on Mental Health & Wellbeing of Educators
GD Goenka University, in collaboration with the Fortis National Mental Health Program (Adayu), successfully organized VARTAH 7.0 on 30–31 July 2026, centred on the theme "Mental Health & Wellbeing of Educators." The programme commenced with the inaugural address by Hon'ble Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Dinesh Shenoy, followed by a keynote address by Dr. Samir Parikh on "Evolving Role of Educators: Redefining Well-Being." Prof. (Dr.) Anjali Midha Sharan, Dean, School of Liberal Arts & Dean, R&D, emphasized the significance of initiatives such as VARTAH in fostering empathy, resilience, and mental well-being within educational institutions, highlighting the need to create compassionate and psychologically safe learning environments.
The programme featured enriching sessions by Dr. Mimansa Singh Tanwar and Ms. Anusha Tyagi on creating psychologically safe schools; Dr. Sachin Baliga and Ms. Tara Mehta on preventing and managing educator burnout; Dr. Kedar Tilwe and Ms. Vaani Jain on promoting workplace mental health in schools; Ms. Priyanka Halwasiya on preventing compassion fatigue among educators; and Dr. Geetika Kapoor and Dr. Ekaansh Sharma, moderated by Ms. Deboshila Bose, on psychological first aid in schools. The speakers emphasized the importance of emotional resilience, self-care, early mental health interventions, supportive leadership, and fostering safe, inclusive, and empathetic educational spaces for both educators and students.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from school counsellors, educators, psychologists, and academic professionals from across the country. It concluded with the Valedictory Address by Prof. (Dr.) Dhirendra Singh Parihar, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) & Registrar, who reiterated GD Goenka University's commitment to promoting mental health, educator well-being, and holistic development in education.
