Workshop on Digital Forensics & Incident Response (DFIR)
On 29 January 2026, the Department of Basic and Applied Sciences, School of Engineering & Sciences (SoES), GD Goenka University organized a workshop on Digital Forensics & Incident Response (DFIR). The sessions were led by Mr. Anuraag Singh, CEO & Co-Founder, Systools, and Mr. Viral Patel, GM – DFIR Operations, Systools, who delivered in-depth, industry-focused insights into DFIR fundamentals, real-world investigation lifecycles, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), career pathways in digital forensics and cyber investigations, along with live demonstrations of widely used DFIR tools.
The workshop was organized for students and faculty members from the Forensic Science and Cybersecurity programs. It commenced with a welcome address by Prof. (Dr.) K. Thammi Reddy, Dean, School of Engineering and Sciences, who highlighted the importance of Digital Forensics as a critical need of the hour. He warmly welcomed Systools for collaboration and emphasized the significance of professional certifications in the field of Digital Forensics.
Mr. Anuraag Singh initiated the session with an overview of DFIR fundamentals, detailing the processes involved in identifying cyber incidents, carrying out investigations, and ensuring secure information management. Mr. Viral Patel further discussed various cybercrimes and data breaches, highlighting effective organizational response strategies to protect digital systems and reduce potential impact. A major emphasis was placed on maintaining the integrity of digital evidence through appropriate handling and preservation protocols.
The session was attended by Prof.(Dr.) Naresh Sharma, Head, DBAS, Dr. Priyanka Sharma, Associate Professor and Faculty Incharge, and Mr. Fakhruddin Ahmed, Assistant Professor.
The entire workshop was successfully organized and coordinated by Ms. Mala Bharti, Assistant Professor.
