Program Description
The Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) programme is a six-year professional doctoral program designed to prepare students for clinical pharmacy practice and pharmaceutical research. Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D): Approved by the Pharmacy Council of India. Pharmacy is a challenging field that involves merging & intermingling the skills of science and technology. This programme is designed to attain a high level of contextual excellence in the arena of Pharmaceuticals. Theory and Practical subjects are undertaken in the course structure of this programme, with crucial inputs from experts in the field of Pharmacy. Upon graduation, students possess a diverse skill set and a solid foundation in pharmaceutical sciences, preparing them for successful careers and enabling them to contribute meaningfully to the healthcare field as informed professionals and innovators.
Students gain extensive knowledge of pharmacology, medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutics, and clinical pharmacy through classroom instruction, laboratory work, and hospital-based training. The final year is dedicated to a full-time internship in a hospital or clinical setting, providing real-world exposure to patient care.
PROGRAMME OUTCOMES
Programme Outcomes (POs) of Doctor of Pharmacy Programme: Students of the Doctor of Pharmacy degree programme at the time of graduation will be able to-
PO1: Apply the fundamental concepts and applications of pharmaceutical sciences, clinical pharmacy, hospital pharmacy, biomedical sciences, pharmacotherapeutics, socio-behavioural sciences, and drug regulation to solve the complex issues in the healthcare and clinical pharmacy sector.
PO2: Plan and manage the resources, time, and manpower in resolving intricate issues related to patient care and pharmacy practice.
PO3: Design and develop patient-centric therapeutic strategies by critical thinking to ensure patient safety, efficacy, and optimal therapeutic outcomes while considering socio-cultural health aspects.
PO4:Apply pharmaceutical and professional knowledge to bring novel research in clinical practice, drug therapy, and healthcare systems.
PO5: Build and enhance the skills to accommodate leadership & teamwork quality in a clinical and hospital pharmacy setting.
PO6: Applying the knowledge of ethical practices and human values as clinical pharmacists in hospitals, communities, or healthcare setups.
PO7:Demonstrate effective communication with healthcare professionals, patients, and caregivers to ensure comprehensive patient care.
PO8:Demonstrate the code of ethics and uphold the laws for the upliftment of the pharmacy profession and community health.
PO9:Select and apply novel techniques, software and modern tools in patient data management, drug utilisation review, and therapeutic drug monitoring.
PO10 Understand and apply the principles of environment protection and sustainability in healthcare settings, including safe drug disposal and environmental stewardship.
PO11Understand the need to enhance knowledge and skills to engage in life-long learning and apply it to advanced clinical pharmacy practices.
PROGRAMME SPECIFIC OUTCOMES
PSO1:Graduates will acquire comprehensive knowledge of pharmaceutical sciences related to pharmacopoeial & non-pharmacopoeial drugs, pharmacotherapeutics, clinical pharmacokinetics, pharmacovigilance, patient care management, hospital and community pharmacy, and drug interactions to serve as professional clinical pharmacists.
PSO2:Graduates will be able to serve or start their own practices in clinical pharmacy services, hospital pharmacy, therapeutic drug monitoring, patient counselling, and healthcare education.
PSO3: Graduates will be able to understand the need for research and higher education for updating clinical knowledge and applying it to the profession of pharmacy and advanced patient care.

Admission Requirement
Minimum qualification for admission in First year Pharm.D:
Candidate shall have passed 10+2 examination conducted by the respective state/central government authorities recognized as equivalent to 10+2 examination by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) with English as one of the subjects and Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics (P.C.M) and/or Biology (P.C.B / P.C.M.B.) as optional subjects individually. Any other qualification approved by the Pharmacy Council of India as equivalent to any of the above examinations.
