Dr. M. Ramesh Naik is a dedicated academician and accomplished Deep Learning researcher with over 12 years of combined teaching and research experience across national and international institutions. He earned his Ph.D. in Electronics & Communication Engineering from the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Jamshedpur, where his doctoral research focused on the design and development of advanced deep learning models for motion estimation and video compression. His academic foundation also includes an M.Tech from IIT Kharagpur with specialization in Visual Information and Embedded Systems, where he developed a real-time software-based H.264 video codec for conferencing applications.
Dr. Ramesh currently serves as an Assistant Professor at GD Goenka University, Gurugram-Sohna, Haryana. Prior to this, he held faculty positions at Guru Nanak Institute of Technology, Hyderabad, and Madawalabu University, Ethiopia, where he contributed significantly to undergraduate engineering education, curriculum development, laboratory establishment, and mentoring of student research projects. His six-year international academic tenure reflects his adaptability, multicultural teaching competence, and commitment to academic excellence. He has also served as a Teaching Assistant at IIT Kharagpur, contributing to postgraduate instruction and laboratory guidance.
His research expertise lies in Deep Learning-based Image and Video Processing, Neural Video Codecs, Motion Estimation, and Real-time Compression Systems. Dr. Ramesh has made substantial scholarly contributions with multiple publications in reputed SCI-indexed journals, including Q1 journals such as Multimedia Tools & Applications and submissions to IEEE Transactions on Image Processing and Machine Learning (Springer). His work focuses on innovative neural architectures such as GANs, CNNs, RNNs, LSTMs, Transformers, and hybrid attention-driven models for ultra-low bitrate video streaming and objective enhancement.
Beyond research and teaching, Dr. Ramesh actively mentors undergraduate and postgraduate students in project development and research initiatives. He is proficient in modern deep learning frameworks including PyTorch, TensorFlow, and Keras, along with programming expertise in Python, C++, MATLAB, and Julia. His technical proficiency extends to OpenCV, H.264/H.265 codecs, and real-time video processing systems.
He has completed several professional development programs, including NPTEL certifications in Machine Learning and Deep Learning, and research methodology training supported by MHRD, Government of India. His multilingual ability in English, Hindi, and Telugu further enhances his effectiveness as an educator and researcher.
