About the Centre of Indian Knowledge systems
Centre of Indian Knowledge systems (CIKS) at GD Goenka University is dedicated to promoting and preserving India’s rich intellectual heritage. The centre serves as a hub for interdisciplinary learning, integrating ancient wisdom with contemporary knowledge to address modern challenges. Through specialized courses, workshops, and research initiatives, the centre aims to foster intellectual inquiry, critical thinking, and a deeper appreciation of India's knowledge traditions.
Vision
The vision of CIKS is to rejuvenate and mainstream Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) for the contemporary world in alignment with societal needs. The centre seeks to bridge the gap between traditional wisdom and modern disciplines, ensuring the relevance of IKS in today's academic and professional landscapes.

Ongoing Initiatives at GD Goenka University
CIKS is actively engaged in initiatives that integrate IKS into academic programs and extracurricular activities:
- The centre offers a wide range of credit-based and value-added courses that provide a structured learning path into various facets of Indian Knowledge Systems.
- The focus areas of the centre- Introduction to Indian Knowledge System, Vedic Math, Indian Medicine and Telemedicine, Role of Alternative Medicine in Public Health, Philosophy of Culture, Yoga Health and Physical Education, and Contemporary India and Education etc.
- Symposium on IKS – Conducted by the School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SOHSE) on December 16, 2022.
- Organizing workshops, seminars, lecture series, and Faculty Development Programs (FDPs) on IKS integration-Faculty training workshop on Indian Knowledge system (IKS) in collaboration with Siddhanta Knowledge Foundation— IKS Shikshak Prashikshan Kendra under the IKS Division, Ministry of Education, Government of India held on 5th April,2025.
- Promoting research on the intersection of IKS and modern disciplines.
- Encouraging collaborations with national and international institutions working on IKS.
